Philosophy:

THREAD OF THE MILL is a small stable allowing for personal care to each horse.  We are conveniently located in Gray on Route 26, 2 miles out of Gray Center on 22 peaceful and picturesque acres of fields and rolling hills.  We are a farm whose main focus is on natural living for your horse with 24 hour turn out in pastures and paddocks each equipped with run in shelters.  ONly in extreme weather are the horses shut up in the barn in their stalls.  Stall doors are left open at night for in and out access during the winter months.  We practise Natural Horsemanship training methods.  Our farrier practices natural balance bare foot trim (of course you are more than welcome to use your own farrier as well).  Trail riding is our thing (English and Western) with access to unlimited miles of a well maintained snowmobile trail system.  We welcome seasonal boarders, if you are concerned about wanting to go to an indoor arena for the winter only.  We are a very low key barn, very relaxed atmosphere gearing ourselves to the pleasure rider that enjoys trail and the company of thier horses versus showing and compeition.  If you've been out of the saddle for a while, raising a family or busy with your life's career and your life now affords you with the time to get back in the saddle then THREAD OF THE MILL FARM may be the stable for you!  Most of our boarders have been women in their 40's and 50's getting back in the saddle and looking for casual, low stress trail riding.  All ages of horses are welcome, retirees to brood mares with foals for those who would like to give their babies a great start in life with gruop grazing on pasture.  Visitors welcome by appointment.  Call to arrange a good time to stop by and check out THREAD OF THE MILL FARM, a stable catering to the way of life should be for every horse.
